today's big win 4/25/22

A few weeks ago, NCPLS Staff Attorney Anna Parsons advocated for one of our clients to be resentenced, citing to the Assistant DA that the community member had been improperly sentenced in 1999. Because of her work, our client was released into probation, saving him 4 1/2 years in prison. During the time that he served, our client discovered his love of art and used it as part of his process of healing and making amends. Now that the community member has been released, he plans to follow through with his goal of opening his own gallery! Below are a couple of pieces our client made while serving his sentence:
