Our Summer 2026 intern recruitment is complete. NCPLS will begin accepting applications for our Summer 2027 internship program in Fall 2026.
Internships
We are recruiting second-year law students on a rolling basis. We encourage first year law students to apply after the end of their first semester or grading period.
Internship overview:
NCPLS hosts law students of all class levels for summer internships. Interns have the opportunity to work directly with post-conviction and civil attorneys on a broad range of assignments.
Projects often include:
Legal research memos
Reviewing trial transcripts and discovery
Drafting court filings
Client and witness interviews
Observing court proceedings
Updating self-help resources
NCPLS typically recruits 3-6 law school interns for approximately 10-week summer program at our Raleigh, NC office. This opportunity is unpaid, but NCPLS will work with interns in completing any requirements they have for outside funding or externship credit.

NCPLS participates in law school recruitment programs and career fairs at several North Carolina law schools. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through those programs where applicable. Applicants may also submit materials by e-mail to ncpls@ncpls.org.
