Clients with Special Needs
If you have difficulty reading and writing, we suggest that you seek help from another prisoner or DOC staff member when writing to NCPLS. Letters from NCPLS to prisoners should only be opened in the presence of the prisoner addressee, and should not be read by a DOC employee unless the prisoner requests them to do so. Please let us know about any problem you are having in corresponding with NCPLS.
NCPLS will arrange translation services for people who are deaf, those who do not speak English, and for those who otherwise are unable to communicate through correspondence.
